Saturday, October 30 2021 - Fast Climbs at the Canadian Vertical Uphill Mountain Running Championships |
Alex Ricard made it a perfect two-for-two at the Canadian Mountain Running Championships in 2021 with a victory at today's vertical uphill race at the Massif du Sud, Quebec, following his gold medal at the classic up and down championships in September. He covered the 7km course with 525m of elevation gain in 35:10.6. Samuel Poher finished in second place in 36:07.8 with a strong performance only a week after his victory and course record in the 50km at the Trail du Grand Duc. Martin Dagenais managed to secure third place in 36:19.1 by outkicking Remi Leroux in a sprint finish. Martin was first place in the 33km at the Trail du Grand Duc last weekend.
swiss replica watches Sarah Bergeron Larouche marked her return to mountain running in a convincing first place finish in 44:06.2. She has competed for Canada in mountain running at multiple world championships and has recently been a strong competitor in the trail scene. Kerri LaBrecque secured second place in her first mountain race in 45:36.9. Sasha Gollish also performed well in her first mountain running race following her impressive career in cross-country and on the track, finishing in third place in 45:53.0.
The top two runners in each race have secured their spots in the vertical uphill event at the World Mountain and Trail Running Championships which is scheduled to take place in February 2022 in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
The event was hosted by Parc Regional du Massif du Sud about an hour outside of Quebec City.
