For the second year in a row, the Canadian women finished in the top 10 at the World Mountain Running Championships. Improving by one spot, they finished in 9th place this year. Adele Blaise-Sohnius, the top Canadian woman, also showed impressive gains, finishing 29th today, more than 20 spots better than in 2015. Marianne Hogan and Ashley Ramsey also finished in the top 50.
On the men's side, Kris Swanson was the top Canadian man, finishing in the top 50 (45th). This was an impressive result for him, having struggled through injury all season. The Canadian men equaled their 14th place finish from last year. Shaun Stephens-Whale was 69th and Mark Vollmer, showing impressive consistency, was once again a scoring member of the team, something he has done at every World Championships he's competed at since 2007.
In the junior men's race, Mitch Cauchi led the Canadian team to a 12th place finish. Mitch finished 37th in the competitive junior field. Supported by top 50 finishes from Greg Hetterley and Aiden Doherty, the junior men improved two places this year, finishing 12th overall.
